Bringing the Authentic
Taste of Uji to the World

From the misty tea fields of Kyoto to your cup —
a bridge between centuries of Japanese craftsmanship and modern tea culture.

Our Philosophy
“Every cup of matcha should taste as if it were prepared in a Kyoto tea room — no matter where in the world you are.”
Why We Exist

A Passion Born
from Frustration

For years, matcha lovers outside Japan faced the same problem: it was nearly impossible to find truly fresh, authentic ceremonial-grade matcha at a fair price. What arrived was often months old, faded in color, and stripped of the vibrant umami that makes Japanese matcha extraordinary.

Matchadew was born to change that. Founded by a team of tea enthusiasts with deep connections to Kyoto’s Uji region — the birthplace of Japanese matcha — we set out to build a direct bridge between the world’s finest tea houses and matcha lovers everywhere.

Our mission is simple: to let every cup you brew taste as if you were sitting in a Kyoto tea room, no matter where in the world you are.

Our Commitment

Three Principles We Never Compromise

01

Authentic Provenance

We partner exclusively with Japan’s most prestigious tea houses, including Marukyu Koyamaen (est. 1688) and Yamamasa Koyamaen (est. 1861) — multi-generational artisans from the Uji region of Kyoto, producing the finest matcha the world has to offer.

02

Uncompromising Freshness

Matcha is a living ingredient — its flavor peaks within weeks of stone-grinding. We maintain rapid inventory turnover and airtight, light-protective packaging to ensure every tin you receive is vibrant, aromatic, and at its absolute best.

03

Global Reach, Local Care

From our climate-controlled facility, we ship to over 30 countries worldwide. Every order is dispatched with insulated packaging designed to protect matcha from heat and light, arriving in pristine condition.

Our Partners

A Legacy Spanning Centuries

Our cornerstone brands are not simply tea producers. They are custodians of a tradition stretching back over 300 years, supplying matcha to Kyoto’s most revered tea masters and temples.

1688

Marukyu Koyamaen

Over three centuries of unbroken tradition. Marukyu Koyamaen has perfected the art of stone-grinding tencha leaves on traditional granite mills at a pace of just 40 grams per hour — preserving the delicate amino acids and chlorophyll that define genuine Uji matcha.

1861

Yamamasa Koyamaen

For over 160 years, Yamamasa Koyamaen has combined time-honored techniques with meticulous cultivar selection. Their matcha is prized for its signature sweetness, depth of umami, and electric-green color — the hallmarks of authentic Uji craftsmanship.

Your Questions, Answered

Our Promise

How fresh is your matcha?

Extremely fresh. We source directly from producers in Uji and maintain rapid inventory turnover. Every tin is sealed in airtight, light-protective packaging immediately after stone-grinding. We recommend consuming within 2–3 months of opening for the best flavor experience.

How do you protect matcha quality during shipping?

All orders are dispatched in insulated, temperature-controlled packaging. We avoid shipping during extreme heat periods where possible, and our packaging is designed to block UV light — the primary enemy of matcha freshness. International shipments use express carriers to minimize transit time.

How long does international shipping take?

Domestic (US) orders typically arrive in 3–7 business days. International orders to Canada, the UK, and the EU arrive within 7–14 business days. For Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, delivery is usually 7–12 business days. All orders include full tracking.

Are Marukyu Koyamaen and Yamamasa Koyamaen authentic?

Absolutely. We are an authorized retailer of both brands. Marukyu Koyamaen, established in 1688, and Yamamasa Koyamaen, established in 1861, are two of the most prestigious tea houses in Japan. Every product we sell is genuine, sourced directly through official channels.

What if I’m not satisfied with my order?

Your satisfaction matters deeply to us. We offer a 30-day return policy on unopened products. If your matcha arrives damaged or you believe there is a quality issue, please contact us at support@matchadew.com with photos and we will make it right — guaranteed.
